Tata Altroz iCNG Launch: A New Era of Sustainable Driving

Tata Motors is all set to launch the Altroz iCNG, a new variant of its premium hatchback Altroz, on 19th April 2023. The Altroz iCNG is India’s first premium hatchback with a factory-fitted CNG kit, making it an eco-friendly and affordable option for those who are looking for sustainable mobility solutions. Let’s take a closer look at what the Altroz iCNG has to offer.

Design and Styling:

The Tata Altroz iCNG retains the same sporty and stylish design of the Altroz, with a few minor tweaks to distinguish it from the petrol and diesel variants. The Altroz iCNG comes with a distinctive green badge on the front grille, which signifies its eco-friendly nature. The overall design is aerodynamic and sleek, with sharp lines and curves that give it a bold and confident look.

The Altroz iCNG is available in six vibrant colours: High Street Gold, Downtown Red, Avenue White, Midtown Grey, Harbour Blue and Lunar Silver. The 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels add to the premium look of the car.

Powertrain and Performance:

The Altroz iCNG is powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that has been tuned to run on CNG as well. The engine produces a maximum power of 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 113 Nm at 3,300 rpm. The Altroz iCNG comes with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The CNG kit has been integrated seamlessly into the car’s design, without compromising on the boot space or the cabin comfort. The Altroz iCNG has a fuel tank capacity of 60 litres, which includes a 37-litre CNG tank and a 23-litre petrol tank. The CNG kit is designed to automatically switch between CNG and petrol, depending on the driving conditions, to ensure optimal fuel efficiency and performance.

The Altroz iCNG has a claimed mileage of 29 km/kg in CNG mode and 18.5 km/l in petrol mode. This makes it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in its segment, and a cost-effective option for those who drive long distances frequently.

Features and Technology:

The Altroz iCNG comes with a host of features and technology that enhance its safety, comfort, and convenience. The car comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera as standard. The top-end variant also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and a push-button start-stop system.

The Altroz iCNG also features Tata Motors’ latest connected car technology, called iRA. The iRA technology offers a range of features, such as remote lock-unlock, vehicle location tracking, geo-fencing, and live vehicle diagnostics, that can be accessed through a smartphone app. The iRA technology also enables voice commands through natural language processing, making it easier and safer for the driver to control various functions of the car while driving.

Price and Availability:

The Tata Altroz iCNG is expected to be priced between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will be available in three variants: XM, XT, and XZ. The Altroz iCNG will be initially available in select cities where CNG infrastructure is readily available.
